Although World of Warcraft may be a game that is exists exclusively in the digital realm of bits and bytes in the virtual world of online computers it is never the less a place where social interaction is just as important as it is at any mall or teenagers house. In fact this social interaction isn't confined to just teenagers. Although in the virtual world of Azeroth you will find a great many heavy metal fans that love a good sci-fi series there are players from every walk of like and every age group.
The social interaction occurs on many levels within the Warcraft online realm not least of all when a player joins a guild.
Guilds are conglomerations of like minded players who work together for a common goal that also benefits each of the guild's individual members. I suppose a guild is like a gang or an army of players who all share the same ideals and goals and want the same outcome. They are a society dedicated to one and other.
There are many different guilds within the Warcraft world and each one has different objectives and different recruitment criteria.
Whatever guild you want to join they will wish to know your level of commitment to world of warcraft. Before approaching a guild or even accepting an invitation from one you should know how many hours per week you plan to be online playing and what you expect from guild as well as what you are prepared to offer.
Often it is a good idea to start your own guild so that the guild to which you belong suits your needs. Be prepared to take some steps and make some mental plans before you embark on building your own guild. When you start recruiting members for your guild you must have a clear and precise vision of what your guild is being formed for. What are the guild objectives and what strategy does the guild plan to use to reach those objectives?
You should set out clearly whether your guild plans to become one of the largest and most imposing or wishes to remain small and only fairly active.
Determine whether your guild's style of play will be PvE (player versus environment) and geared towards helping each other level up or if it will be PvP (player versus player) and focused on Arena tournament teams and the like.
Get your recruitment process right and you could build a very strong guild in a very short time.
