There is a lot of information available online about world of warcraft with tips and tricks for people who have been playing for awhile. Unfortunately, there is not much information made available for new players. This is a short article for those who are new to world of warcraft and need to know the basics.
Within the game you have the option of reading some helpful guidelines. By clicking on the flashing exclamation mark (!) at the bottom of the screen you can instantly access information on questing, training and combat.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move your character. The WASD keys server exactly the same function.
If you are unfamiliar with any of the icons in your game interface just hold your mouse over it (without clicking) and an information box will appear telling you what it is.
In times of game play when you come in contact with other players, computer generated personalities, monsters or items your mouse pointer will change and indicate that you can interact with them.
Left click on anything with WoW to select it and interact with things by right clicking.
As WoW is an online game you will need an internet connection and a WoW online account. After this you choose which server to play on. Not all realms are the same and you need to do a little research to determine which one is best for you. However, if it is the first time you are playing I suggest you just pick the first, normal, option.
When you create your character you can be a member of either the Alliance or the Horde. You then get to choose your race from a variety of different kinds from elves and dwarfs to humans.
Be sure you read the naming protocols before you name your character or you may be penalised.
When you die in the game you have the ability to be resurrected. In a nearby cemetery you will be revived as a ghost by a spirit healer. To re-enter the game properly just go, as a ghost, to your body and your body will be revived.
If you get lost or just don't know what you should do you can request help from a Game Master by clicking on the "help request" button in your user interface.
