Guide to Choosing a Profession in WoW

When you play World of Warcraft one of the most important things to consider in the game is levelling up your character. Of course it is important to level up quickly. At lower levels you get killed a lot and the game can be frustrating. It doesn't take long to realise that there is more to world of warcraft than just levelling up your character. Take the professions for example!

There are a few reasons for choosing your professions carefully. When you pick your primary profession, and your secondary profession, it is a good idea to do a little research into the professions (and your character's class) first. Many new players choose professions that are completely useless to their character and style of game-play. However, it can also be used to create items that can be sold at the auction house.

With a great many professions it is possible to use them for the benefit of an entire group and not just your own character. At higher profession levels it is possible to create items, using your high level skill, that can be sold at auction for a nice price.

It is often a good idea to twin professions that suit one and other and that also suit your character's class. Mining and jewelcrafting are two examples of complimentary professions.

It takes different things to level up different professions. If you hate grinding and farming then perhaps tailoring is not for you as you need a lot of cloth (which you usually get off dead enemies). If you find it hard to make gold then perhaps jewelcrafting I snot for you either!

Also take into account the class to which your character belongs before you pick a profession. Blacksmithing would be pretty useless to a mage as a mage uses no metal armor - perhaps a tailoring profession would better suit.

If you are having trouble picking additional professions after your primary one is chosen then you should consider choosing enchanting. This neat profession will let you disenchant any item that you can't get sold so you can sell the shards or dust from it.

Try to avoid the usual route when levelling up your profession as it takes way too long. The most successful WoW players ensure that they know exactly how they will level up their character and gain 450 profession skill points before they even chose their profession.
