After playing World of Warcraft just once you understand the pull it has over gamers and get a feel for the thrilling excitement that it can offer you. With a myriad of creatures, quests and paths to ultimate fame and fortune within the game it is no wonder World of Warcraft has become the most popular MMORPG ever created.
Many people find World of Warcraft so exciting and captivating that they just don't notice the time going by. The quests and levelling paths are cleverly constructed so that they leave you wanting just a little more at the end. With such enticing and attention grabbing game play, that creates tension and desire to go further up the ranks in players, it is not a wonder the game is addictive to some people.
We have all little addictions and all get caught up in different activities where we feel we could keep going. Luckily for most of us though these do not become problem addictions that take over our lives.
Due to the addictive nature of World of Warcraft, and in fact the addictive nature of video games in general, players tend to spend long periods of time online in this fantasy world. Spending large amounts of time playing WoW is mostly a problem that adults have rather than kids (surprisingly enough) because the game has built-in safety features to prevent abuse.
An internal timer in the game works with parental controls that allows any parent or guardian to restrict access to the game once a certain amount of time has been spent in the online world.
With an average time of 24 hours per week being played online by WoW gamers it is advisable to use this neat parental control feature if your child plans to play the game. Some gamers will spend that amount of time playing in just one session!
Addiction to any type of activity is never a good thing, no matter how great the activity is or how enjoyable it is. Many people, who have become addicted to computer games such as World of Warcraft, lose everything including their jobs, relationships and homes! Don't be one of them.
Luckily these cases are few but some are bound to appear when 11 million people play the game. You must also consider that people who became so lost in a game that their lives suffer because of it most likely suffer from an addictive personality and would therefore end up in a similar position with a different addiction.
Having said that, World of Warcraft is unlike any other game on the market in that it can teach very valuable skills that transfer nicely into a person's private and professional life - such a team work, leadership, team building and many more!
If you use World of Warcraft properly and the way it was designed to be used you will have hours of fun and perhaps even learn some life skills in the process.
