Anyone who has ever entered the online fantasy realm of Azeroth knows just how enthralling it can be. With a myriad of creatures, quests and paths to ultimate fame and fortune within the game it is no wonder World of Warcraft has become the most popular MMORPG ever created.
Many people find World of Warcraft so exciting and captivating that they just don't notice the time going by. The path to levelling up your character takes you through grinding and questing and leaves you wanting to continue moving up. Due to the enthralling nature of this game it is therefore somewhat addictive.
We have all little addictions and all get caught up in different activities where we feel we could keep going. Luckily for most of us though these do not become problem addictions that take over our lives.
Although most people are sensible with their time and play WoW moderately there are many players who spend large amounts of time wandering through the realm of Azeroth. This I snot surprising as there are 111,000,000 active players currently! This is less of a problem for kids than it is for adults due to the internal clock and parental controls that come as part of the game.
An internal timer in the game works with parental controls that allows any parent or guardian to restrict access to the game once a certain amount of time has been spent in the online world.
This is advisable as a typical gamer can spend approximately 24 hours in Azeroth every single week. More hard core gamers will spend much, much longer. In fact it has been reported that some people have spent 24 hours playing the game in just one sitting!
Obviously becoming so engrossed in a video game, no matter how good it is, is not desirable and will have immediate and long-term effects on almost every area of your life. People who develop unhealthy addictions to games like WoW often find themselves without a job and with no meaningful relationships. In severe cases people can lose the ability to function properly in the real world and end up living their lives online.
Although such extreme cases are very few in number there have been reports of a few connected to World of Warcraft. I should add that anyone who gets so caught up in an activity that they find it extremely difficult to stop it probably has an addictive personality and would most likely find another outlet for their addictive behaviour.
The truth is World of Warcraft is just a game - albeit a great game. However, unlike other Pc games this game has been shown to help people to learn real world, usable skills like team building, team work, leadership and many others.
The main thing to remember, if you decide to play world of warcraft, is to enjoy yourself and let the rest take care of itself.

How World of Warcraft Saved My Life
Computer games can be highly addictive. Every parent in this age of technology fears their child may be spending too much time on a computer. Worrying about a child's dependence on computer games is a concern that is often justified. Obesity and lack of fitness amongst children is growing every year and to a large extent it is due to the technologies that are so available to the younger generation.
Lack of exercise and obesity are not just problems for the youth of today. Adults of all ages are getting bigger as they rely more and more on technology and get less and less exercise. Just like it is with kids the root of this problem can often be found in the personal computer.
Although this all sounds rather depressing it isn't all bad. After all the personal computer has made our lives a lot easier and brought with it many benefits.
Most people who never play games on a computer believe them to be merely an entertainment tool. Some think they can even be dangerous. Although many games are just created for entertainment purposes and serve for little else than a means to spend some time in a pursuit that pleases you there is a one popular game that may offer much, much more!
World of Warcraft is such a popular online computer game that has so many members it has been openly blamed for ruining lives and breaking up relationships. The most hardcore World of Warcraft gamers can spend up to 16 hours a day playing online absolutely obsessed with the game and totally immersed in the fantasy life it offers.
It should be noted that very serious cases of Warcraft addiction only happen to people who display addictive personality traits and this type of addictive behaviour is unlikely to occur in you unless you have an addictive personality - in which case you will most probably become addictive to something else anyway! People with addictive personalities tend to become obsessive about mist things they do. There addictive behaviour is rarely confined just to video games and bleeds into many different aspects of their lives.
From the eleven million players who are current subscribed to Blizzard accounts almost all of them play world of warcraft in moderation and just as a fun pastime.
Although WoW seems like just another computer game there are some things that would suggest it is otherwise. Fortune 500 executives and business leaders from across the globe have commenting on warcraft's original way of training employees and managers. In fact many of them play the game themselves because they say it helps to develop real team working skills and teaches people, resource and time management skills in an enjoyable and highly entertaining environment.
Although any parent would be happy to learn that there child is learning valuable and highly prized real world skills through simple enjoyment of an online video game on at least one occasion warcraft skills have been used to save lives!
A young boy called Hans Olsen from Norway knows only too well the benefit of playing world of warcraft when it comes to real world skills. Hans found himself in a very dangerous situation when a moose attacked his sister. Hans immediately put his World of Warcraft training into effect.
In the first attack the moose did what any animal will do and targeted the weaker of the children going for Han's sister. He used a ploy known in WoW as taunting where he deliberately drew the attention of the attacking moose to himself so his sister could get away.
The tactic was success however Hans was now in a situation where the moose was targeting him and he needed to do something fast. Although extremely scared and uncertain if it would work Hans tried another warcraft tactic and allowed his body to go loose and limp while he dropped to the ground pretending to be dead.
Fortunately for the young boy the angry moose assumed he was dead and having no more reason to believe his territory was being invaded it wandered off in the forest.

The Fantasy of World of Warcraft
Every day thousands of people log onto their Warcraft account and join their friends in an online fantasy realm that is the largest MMORPG in existence. It all started in the early 1990s with Warcraft - a game that took the Pc gaming world by storm and spawned two sequels.
In the online game four years have passed since the last Warcraft single player. Although Warcraft III seen races decimated and Azeroth war torn the races do not have time to rest.
Ancient threats and new ones lurk forever in the darkness ready to pounce and cause havoc once again.
Azeroth has changed forever. It is not a computer program downloaded and played on one computer any more. Azeroth exists as an ever-changing dynamic virtual world that exists on Blizzard's own servers. To visit Azeroth you must literally visit another place by logging onto your computer and going onto the internet.
Azeroth, the virtual world of warcraft world, is now online. Being a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) allows Warcraft to have 11 million active players from all over the planet.
To access the virtual world of Azeroth you need to sign up for a Blizzard account. When you sign into it and join a warcraft realm you will be there with many thousands of other players.
Warcraft is quite unique in the fact that there are several different styles of server that suit individual game styles. The unique thing about World of Warcraft is that you can play it at your own pace unlike most of the other ones online today.
Warcraft has two factions the Horde and the Alliance. You then pick a race from ten different ones and give your character a class - again from ten different classes. Once you start playing you can choose two primary professions and as many secondary professions as you want.
There are multiple and interesting modes of transportation from flying epic mounts to instant teleportation depending on your class and level.
The storyline of the warcraft world is interesting, engaging and builds up your interest in the game as you play.
The great thing about playing world of warcraft is also the fact that many experts have identified that the game teaches real world skills that can be used in career and personal settings.
Warcraft is not just a game it is truly an enjoyable, entertaining, rewarding, often inspiring and skill training experience.
